I thought this was a neat idea to show how unique our children are. Though these things may seem strange to some people, they aren't strange to me. It's just the usual day in the life of my son.
Your child would rather lick the TV, windows, and books, instead of eating his food...
Your child spins around in circles until he falls over, then gets back up and does it all over again.
Your child thinks his hands are the cooler than the expensive toys you bought for him, and will stare at them for extended periods of time.
You have all his books memorized because he makes you read them over and over again.
You hear bloody murder screams from the backseat of the car because you passed a certain traffic light, turned left instead of turning right, and you drove past the mall with the merry go round instead of stopping and letting him ride five times.
A commercial comes on for your child's favorite movie or tv show and when it goes off, there is an hours worth of screaming because he didn't get to watch it all the way through.
Your child throws his hands up on his ears to mean he's excited, tired, cranky, overwhelmed, or just bored... and you always know why he's doing it.
Spinning things are the best thing... ever.
Water is also the best thing... ever.
Clothing is viewed as "optional".
Diapers are also "optional."
Everything belongs to your child. Everything.
If there is a way to climb something, it will be climbed.
The blinds in your house are usually broken and torn down.
Communication is done through a series of hand clapping, grunting, and screaming.
Having a sippy cup thrown at you means I want more milk.
Folding a single basket laundry takes an hour because your child doesn't like things piled up on the bed where they don't belong.
There are locks and safety handles on everything, especially doors leading outside.
The words "stop" and "no" are optional.
And lastly, you know you live with autism when you have the most loving and beautiful child you could have ever hoped for.
So very true!
